BiopixPanama™ has several aims:
1. Celebrating Panama's biodiversity with photos. There are so many interesting animals and plants out there that we hardly know about. By displaying photos and naming all those weird and wonderful creatures, we hope to help create respect for the natural environment of Panama.
2. Providing photographers a showcase for photos they took in Panama. Both amateurs and professionals, and especially those that live in Panama are welcome to contribute to the site. Members can show their work in their personal gallery. The site can also assist to sell your photos.
3. Helping people identifing creatures they have seen or photographed. The site can be searched in various ways, to help visitors find the image they are looking for. But beware, some animals and plants are very similar and in the case of some plants and small animals like insects a photo is not always enough to tell what species you are looking at.
4. Providing a database based on GPS coordinates supplied by photographers (please make sure your GPS uses the WGS84 standard).
